Zacks Investment Research Data Breach?:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of a potential Zacks Investment Research data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from Zacks users who may have been impacted.
Reports have surfaced that Zacks Investment Research, an independent research firm focusing on stocks, EFTs and mutual funds, may have experienced a data breach in June 2024 affecting 12 million accounts.
According to cybersecurity news publication BleepingComputer.com, a hacker published data samples on a hacking forum in late January, claiming to have stolen full names, usernames, email addresses, physical addresses and phone numbers of individuals associated with Zacks.
Another cybersecurity website, HaveIBeenPwned.com, confirmed that the potential Zacks Investment Research data breach included 12 million email addresses along with IP addresses, names, hashed passwords, phone numbers, addresses and usernames.
BleepingComputer.com reported that Zacks has experienced at least two other major data breaches in the past four years, noting that the most recent incident could be a result of threat actors scraping Zacks users' information from other sources and compiling it into a database.
If you believe your information may have been exposed, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Zacks Investment Research to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
