Credit Sesame Data Breach: Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Credit Sesame data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Credit Sesame Security Incident: What Happened?
Credit Sesame, a credit and loan company aimed at helping consumers improve their credit health and obtain better financial opportunities, is notifying individuals of a data privacy incident that could potentially impact user information.
In a sample notice letter dated April 14, 2025 (seen below), the company said it recently detected suspicious online activity involving certain user accounts. Upon discovering this activity, Credit Sesame secured the affected accounts and launched an investigation.
The investigation revealed there may have been unauthorized log-in activity on some accounts during a limited time frame, which could have exposed certain user information. Credit Sesame then undertook a review to determine exactly what data was involved and worked to identify those potentially impacted.
It is unknown at this time the exact type of data that may have been exposed in the Credit Sesame data breach, though notice letters provided to affected consumers should provide more information.
What You Can Do
If your information was exposed in the data breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Credit Sesame to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
