WebTPA Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the WebTPA data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
WebTPA Employer Services, LLC, which provides third-party administrative services to insurance companies, employers and health systems, recently reported a data breach.
On December 28, 2023, unauthorized activity was detected on the WebTPA network. Subsequent inquiries revealed that between April 18 and April 23, 2023, personal information may have been accessed or obtained by the unidentified intruder.
As a result, individuals whose data was potentially compromised are now being notified by WebTPA. Notices about the WebTPA data breach explain that the company had consumer data as part of the services it provided and may reference an additional company recognizable by the recipient, with the example letter below mentioning Transamerica Life Insurance Company.
The Allied Pilots Association has also posted an article on its website stating that WebTPA is the third-party administrator for its voluntary supplemental medical plan and that members may be affected.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force WebTPA to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
