Rite Aid Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Rite Aid data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from California residents who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Rite Aid has reported a data breach following the compromise of an employee's business credentials by an unidentified third party on June 6, 2024. The breach prompted an internal investigation, during which unauthorized access was terminated and the potential impact on customer data was assessed.
By June 17, 2024, the investigation revealed that the personal data of individuals who purchased or attempted to purchase specific retail items between June 6, 2017 and July 30, 2018 was accessed. The compromised data included purchaser names, addresses, dates of birth, and driver's license numbers or other government-issued IDs.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General's office, 2.2 million people are affected by the Rite Aid data breach.
BleepingComputer.com reports that RansomHub took responsibility for the attack, though Rite Aid has not confirmed the ransomware gang's claim.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Rite Aid to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
