Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics Security Incident: What Happened?
Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics, which operates a hospital and clinics in Colfax, St. John, Tekoa and Garfield, Washington, experienced a data breach that compromised personal information of patients and participants in the healthcare provider's group health plan. The breach involved unauthorized access to Whitman's IT systems between December 26, 2024 and February 28, 2025. During this period, an intruder accessed or acquired files containing sensitive information, including names, dates of birth, addresses, Social Security numbers, financial account details, medical diagnoses, lab results, medications, health insurance information, provider names, and treatment dates.
Whitman stated in a data breach notice posted on its website that it was alerted to unusual activity in its systems on February 28, 2025, prompting an investigation, system security enhancements, and a law enforcement notification.
Those affected by the Whitman Hospital & Medical Clinics data breach began receiving notice of the incident by mail on April 11, 2025.
