Nassau Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of a data breach that impacted Nassau.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were affected.
Pension Benefit Information (PBI), a company that provides audit and address research services for various organizations, including Nassau Life and Annuity Company, has recently announced a security breach. The breach is a result of a vulnerability in the software used by PBI, called MOVEit Transfer, which was exploited by an unauthorized third party. It has been determined that the third party accessed one of PBI's servers on May 29 and May 30, 2023, and downloaded data belonging to Nassau customers.
PBI conducted a thorough investigation to confirm the identities of the approximately 71,228 individuals who may have been impacted by the breach and is now sending notice on behalf of Nassau to those affected. The information compromised may include names, Social Security numbers, dates of birth and other personal information.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Nassau to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
