ConnectOnCall Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the ConnectOnCall data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
ConnectOnCall.com, LLC, a subsidiary of Phreesia, is alerting patients to a data breach that reportedly impacted 914,138 individuals. The company, which offers a digital on-call answering service for healthcare providers, discovered an issue affecting its service on May 12, 2024. ConnectOnCall then launched an investigation and implemented measures to secure its product and environment.
The investigation revealed that from February 16 to May 12, 2024, an unknown third party had access to ConnectOnCall, compromising certain data within provider-patient communications. After discovering the breach, ConnectOnCall took its product offline, began a phased restoration to a more secure environment and informed federal law enforcement about the incident.
The personal information compromised included data shared between patients and healthcare providers, such as names, phone numbers, medical record numbers, dates of birth, and details regarding health conditions, treatments, or prescriptions. In a few instances, Social Security numbers may have been exposed in the ConnectOnCall data breach.
Phreesia clarified in an online notice that its ConnectOnCall service operates independently from the company’s other offerings, such as its patient intake platform. According to Phreesia’s investigation, there is currently no evidence suggesting that its other services have been impacted.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force ConnectOnCall to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
