Casio Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Casio data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Casio Computer Co., Ltd. recently reported a significant data breach involving unauthorized access to its network, which occurred on October 5, 2024, leading to a system failure that affected multiple servers. The breach, identified as a ransomware attack, resulted in the leakage of both personal and confidential information from the Japanese electronics company and its affiliated companies.
Personal data compromised in this incident includes information about Casio employees (including temporary and contract workers), some employees from affiliated companies, business partners, job applicants, and certain customers. In addition to personal data, details of contracts, invoices, sales, and various internal documents related to legal, financial, and technical aspects were potentially leaked in the Casio data breach.
Affected systems have been shut down to prevent further damage, and recovery efforts are underway, although the extent of the breach is still being determined.
HackerDose.com reported that ransomware group Underground has claimed responsibility for the breach and says it stole nearly 205 GB of sensitive data.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Casio to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
