Cornwell Quality Tools Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Cornwell Quality Tools data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Around August 29, 2023, Cornwell Quality Tools began sending out notice of a data breach that reportedly impacted 11,884 individuals. The tool manufacturer stated that it experienced a “network disruption” on September 22, 2022 and learned upon investigating that certain files containing “borrower-related personal information” may have been accessed or acquired. Nearly a year after the initial network disruption, Cornwell reported that consumers’ names, Social Security numbers and driver’s license numbers may have been exposed in the breach. Separately, cybersecurity news outlet RedPacket Security reported via an automated post on November 8, 2022 that Cornwell Quality Tools was the victim of a ransomware attack on September 23, 2022 and that the stolen files “are available to download” on the dark web.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Cornwell Quality Tools to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
