Bluebonnet Trails Community Services Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Bluebonnet Trails Community Services data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Bluebonnet Trails Community Services, a Texas-based provider of health services, recently disclosed a cybersecurity incident that involved unauthorized access to employee email accounts. The discovery was made on October 4, 2023, leading the organization to launch an investigation with third-party forensic specialists to assess the situation.
The investigation revealed that a limited number of employee email accounts were accessed without authorization between July 20, 2023 and October 6, 2023. This raised concerns that sensitive information stored in these accounts could have been compromised. Following a detailed review, which concluded on February 26, 2024, Bluebonnet Trails confirmed that certain individuals' information had indeed been impacted by the security breach.
The potentially affected data may include personal details such as names; dates of birth; Social Security numbers; driver’s license, government-issued identification, and state identification numbers; financial account information; medical information; health insurance details; and full-access credentials. In response to this incident, Bluebonnet Trails is notifying individuals whose information may have been compromised through mailed letters, according to an online notice of the data breach.
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has been informed of the Bluebonnet Trails data breach, with approximately 76,165 individuals potentially affected. Bluebonnet Trails provides an array of health services, including care for mental illness, family health and developmental disorders, to adults and children in Texas.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Bluebonnet Trails Community Services to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
