Aviben Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Aviben data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
Educators Benefit Consultants, LLC, also known as Aviben, announced a data breach that reportedly exposed the personal information of 39,640 individuals. Around February 22, 2024, Aviben detected a data security incident involving an unauthorized third party attempting to infiltrate its computer network.
The company, which administers employee benefit programs for employers, secured its network and initiated an investigation that concluded on July 11, 2024. Aviben found that the incident stemmed from a zero-day vulnerability in a software program used by an external IT provider.
The Aviben data breach potentially exposed names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account numbers, military IDs, passport numbers and dates of birth. The types of information affected varied for each individual, and not everyone had all of these elements exposed.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Aviben to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
