Autobell Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the Autobell data breach.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were impacted.
On April 7, 2024, Autobell Car Wash faced a network security incident that disrupted some of its operations. Upon identifying the issue, the company initiated an investigation in collaboration with external cybersecurity professionals to assess any unauthorized access to protected data. A forensic inquiry uncovered on September 24, 2024 that between April 1 and April 7, 2024, certain information on the network might have been accessed or acquired by an unauthorized party.
The potentially compromised data includes full names, addresses, driver’s license numbers, passport numbers, Social Security numbers, medical information, health insurance details, financial information, and tax identification numbers. The specific data affected varies among individuals, and not all data elements were necessarily compromised for everyone. Autobell said on its website that it began sending notice on October 22 to affected individuals for whom it had a last known address. The company advised both employees and customers to review their financial account statements for fraudulent activity.
According to a report submitted to the Maine Attorney General’s Office, the Autobell Car Wash data breach affected 52,714 individuals.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Autobell to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
