Bank of America Data Breach:
Lawsuit Investigation
Attorneys working with ClassAction.org are looking into whether a class action lawsuit can be filed in light of the data breach impacting Bank of America.
As part of their investigation, they need to hear from individuals who received a notice stating they were affected.
On January 3, 2025, Bank of America reported a data breach affecting one of its third-party providers. According to a sample letter provided to the Massachusetts Attorney General (shown below), the provider discovered unauthorized access to its systems on October 1, 2024 that may have compromised mortgage information belonging to Bank of America customers. Specifically, the letter states that customers' names, addresses, passport numbers, phone numbers, Social Security numbers and loan numbers may have been exposed.
Notably, Bank of America's systems were not impacted by the data breach incident.
If your information was exposed in the breach, attorneys want to hear from you. You may be able to start a class action lawsuit to recover compensation for loss of privacy, time spent dealing with the breach, out-of-pocket costs, and more.
A successful case could also force Bank of America to ensure it takes proper steps to protect the information it was entrusted with.
