A police officer who worked for the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District within the past three years has filed a proposed collective action in which he claims the district fails to pay its officers for pre-shift work. Despite allegedly requiring police officers to be in full uniform by the time they clock in and until they clock out, the defendant refuses to record any time they spend working before their scheduled shift start times, the case says. As a result, officers routinely put in more than 40 hours of work per week without being paid premium overtime wages for the hours they accrue over 40 as a result of work performed before clocking in, the suit alleges.
