Filed: November 7, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv6346
The operators of grocery chain Maharaja Farmers Market are staring down a former employee’s lawsuit in which the man claims he was not paid properly.
New York
The operators of Maharaja Farmers Market—a grocery chain located in Long Island and New York City—are staring down a former employee’s proposed collective and class action in which the man claims he was not paid properly.
The plaintiff says he worked in the meat department at the defendants’ Hicksville location and put in 12 hours a day, six days per week. According to the suit, the man received a flat weekly rate of $600 that only covered his first 40 hours of work. The case alleges the defendants’ pay practices robbed the plaintiff and other workers of the applicable minimum wage, overtime wages, and spread-of-hours pay.
Further, in potential violation of New York law, the defendants supposedly deprived the worker of weekly paystubs and a wage notice upon being hired.
