Uno Express Cleaners Inc. Uptown Express Cleaners, Corp. Uptown Cleaners Group Corp. PCA Blue Incorporated
New York
The operators of Express Dry Cleaners have been hit with a proposed collective action filed by a former employee over wage abuse allegations.
The plaintiff claims that she typically worked at least 62 hours each week at the Harlem laundromat for a fixed salary of $432, which was bumped to $500 every December. The case alleges that the plaintiff’s salary failed to provide the required hourly minimum wage and overtime pay.
Although the woman was required to track her work hours, the suit continues, the defendants supposedly directed her to log less time than she actually worked, resulting in hours of unpaid labor.
Lastly, the case alleges that the defendants furnished inaccurate wage statements, failed to grant the plaintiff any breaks, and failed to maintain proper payroll records.
