The operators of Manhattan restaurants Baker’s Pizza + Espresso and Baker’s Pizza have been named in a lawsuit filed by a former cook and counter employee who claims he worked at least 66 hours each week without proper minimum, overtime and spread-of-hours wages.
According to the suit, the plaintiff was paid fixed rates of $700 for six-day workweeks and $800 for seven-day workweeks from March to November 2018. The man alleges he was often required to work 30 minutes before his scheduled start time for no additional pay and further claims he was not paid at all for his final week at the job. Moreover, the case notes that even though the defendants had a time-tracking system in place, the worker was not able to log his hours himself.
