Filed: October 1, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv5485
Yossi’s Fish Market is the defendant in a former employee’s lawsuit in which the man claims he was deprived of proper pay.
Yossi’s Fish Market is the defendant in a former employee’s lawsuit in which the man claims he was paid at a rate below the required minimum wage and deprived of proper overtime compensation.
The plaintiff worked as a fish monger at the Brooklyn-based market from April 2017 to March 2018, where he worked 60 hours each week for an hourly rate of $11, the case says. The suit explains that during the man’s tenure, the minimum hourly wage in New York City rose from $11 in 2017 to $12 in 2018, meaning he was allegedly paid below the required hourly rate for the last three months of his employment. In addition, the plaintiff claims he didn’t receive time-and-a-half for all hours worked in excess of 40 each week and seeks to recover these allegedly unpaid overtime wages.
