Filed: October 11, 2018 ◆§ 1:18cv9323
The operating companies and owners of three Bronx beauty salons are facing a lawsuit filed by an employee who claims she was deprived of proper wages.
New York
The operating companies and owners of three Bronx beauty salons—Beautiful Brows Threading & Nails, Beautiful Nail and Spa, and Beautiful Brows—are on the receiving end of a lawsuit filed by an employee who claims she was deprived of proper wages.
According to the suit, the plaintiff put in between 57 and 75.5 hours each week as a manicurist and pedicurist at the defendants’ Beautiful Brows salon. The case argues an improper tip credit was applied to the woman’s wages, as she spent a significant portion of her workdays performing duties for which she did not receive tips, such as cleaning the building. Additionally, the plaintiff claims she didn’t receive lawful overtime wages.
The case goes on to allege the defendants violated New York law by failing to provide the plaintiff with a wage notice and accurate paystubs. Moreover, the plaintiff says she was not reimbursed for cuticle and nail products she was required to purchase out of pocket for the business.
