Wage and Hour Suit Claims Plaintiff Made $1.43 Per Hour Working in Travel Days’ Call Center

Houts v. Travel Days, Inc.
Filed: June 1, 2018 ◆§ 0:18cv61231
The plaintiff claims Travel Days failed to pay Florida call center employees at least the federal minimum wage.
From Florida comes a proposed class action filed by a plaintiff who alleges Travel Days, Inc. failed to pay call center sales employees proper wages.
The plaintiff worked in the neighborhood of 48 hours per week for the defendant from April 1 through April 16, 2018—a span totaling roughly 96 hours of work, the suit says. The woman claims she was paid a grand total of $137 for this work time, which, according to the lawsuit, hashes out to just $1.43 per hour, far below the mandatory federal minimum wage.
Prior to filing this lawsuit, the plaintiff’s counsel supposedly notified Travel Days that the woman had retained legal help with the intention of pursuing a collective action to recover unpaid wages. A manager for the defendant reportedly responded by saying “Good luck with that,” before hanging up the phone.
