Florida
Vanegas International Group LLC joins Matelo Enterprises, Inc. and the companies’ two owners as defendants in a lawsuit filed by a former employee who alleges he was not paid proper overtime wages.
From January 2007 to October 2017, the plaintiff worked in various positions for the defendants, including chauffeur, handyman, live-in housekeeper, painter and maintenance man, according to the suit. The plaintiff alleges that while he put in an average of 70 to 78 hours each week, he was deprived of time-and-a-half wages for hours worked in excess of 40, a violation of federal labor law.
Moreover, the case goes on to charge that the defendants breached an oral contract in which the plaintiff was promised reimbursement for food and gas costs incurred during his employment that the man says amounted to $2,308. In addition, the plaintiff claims he was only repaid for half of a $10,000 loan made to the defendants in October 2011.
