Three former general managers of Huddle House restaurants filed two lawsuits on the same day – one against defendant Huddle House, Inc., and the other against its operating company, Litco Petroleum, Inc. and two executives. The suits allege that the defendants improperly classified their general managers as exempt from overtime wages, despite requiring them to perform essentially the same jobs as non-exempt employees. The plaintiffs claim they did not have the authority to hire, fire, or discipline other employees and that their managerial titles were the defendants’ attempt to disguise the plaintiffs’ actual duties and save money by avoiding their obligation to pay overtime wages.
