A former cook at Broward County, Florida’s La Bottega del Maccherone has filed suit against the pasta store’s operating company – The Pasta Guys, Inc. – and two individuals with control of the business over claims that the defendants failed to pay employees proper wages. The plaintiff alleges that she was paid less than minimum wage for some of her employment and that she was unlawfully denied time-and-a-half overtime wages for the weekly hours she worked above 40. According to the complaint, she worked for the defendants between January 2016 and August 2017, when the suit says she was unlawfully terminated in retaliation for complaining about the defendants’ pay practices.
