A former employee of Thales Avionics, Inc. has filed a proposed collective action against the company that claims it failed to pay its employees proper overtime wages. The plaintiff – who was employed as a line maintenance technician – says he was required to arrive at the Orlando International Airport parking lot at the beginning of his shift and then drive the defendant’s vehicle to the line maintenance area of the airport, where he was permitted to clock in for his shift. The complaint argues that the plaintiff and similarly situated employees were not paid for the time they spent driving to their work area, which added between 45 and 60 minutes to each workday. As a result, they incurred overtime hours for which they were not compensated, in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, the suit says.
