Tarpon Turtle Grill & Marina, LLC and an individual owner have been named as defendants in a lawsuit filed by a former employee who claims they failed to pay him proper overtime compensation and fired him in retaliation for voicing his wage concerns. The plaintiff says he was employed as an assistant manager and server at the defendants’ restaurant and regularly worked more than 40 hours per week. According to the suit, the defendants never provided time-and-a-half overtime compensation for the weekly hours he worked over 40 and failed to maintain accurate time records. The plaintiff says he complained to management about the restaurant’s supposedly illegal pay practices and was fired in retaliation.
