Jaime v. South Florida Jail Ministries, Inc. et al.
Filed: October 17, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-23796-CMA
A former 'targeted care worker' claims the company that runs Agape Family Ministries and Agape Network failed to pay him proper time-and-a-half overtime.
South Florida Jail Ministries, Inc. and one individual with control over the business are facing a proposed class action filed by a former targeted care worker who claims he’s owed unpaid overtime wages. The plaintiff claims the defendants, which do business as Agape Family Ministries and Agape Network, violated the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) by failing to pay him time-and-a-half overtime for all hours he worked past 40 between January 1 and December 31, 2016. During that time, the plaintiff claims he worked an average of 20 off-the-clock hours per week without appropriate time-and-a-half pay. From May 1 through the end of the plaintiff’s employment in September 2017, the case continues, the man allegedly went back to working 20 off-the-clock hours each week without additional pay.
