Hill-Smith v. Silver Dollar Cabaret, Inc. et al
Filed: July 19, 2018 ◆§ 5:18cv5145
According to the suit, Silver Dollar Cabaret and Platinum Cabaret have failed to pay current and former exotic dancer employees proper wages.
Arkansas
Silver Dollar Cabaret, Platinum Cabaret, and the two of the clubs’ owners are the defendants in a proposed collective action filed in Arkansas federal court. According to the lawsuit, the defendants have failed to pay current and former exotic dancer employees proper minimum and overtime wages.
The complaint says the plaintiff worked for the defendants from October 2017 through April 2018. According to the plaintiff, she and similarly situated dancers worked more than 40 hours during many workweeks without being paid time-and-a-half overtime. Further, the woman claims the defendants required dancers to attend meetings during non-business hours without pay.
The plaintiff charges the unpaid wages are a result of the defendants unlawfully misclassifying exotic dancers as independent contractors exempt from state and federal labor protections.
