Paulot et al v. School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida
Filed: May 18, 2018 ◆§ 9:18cv80660
Five school bus drivers have filed suit against the School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida alleging they aren't paid premium overtime wages.
Florida
The School Board of Palm Beach County, Florida, is on the receiving end of a proposed collective and class action filed by five school bus drivers who claim the defendant doesn’t pay premium wages for all overtime hours. According to the complaint, the bus drivers receive an hourly wage of $14.00 and should be paid one-and-one-half times their regular rate for each hour worked over 40 in a week, which the case claims amounts to an average of 10 hours per week. Instead, the drivers are paid time-and-a-half for only three hours of overtime each week, the suit alleges, with the rest of the seven hours being compensated at their straight-time rate. The case argues the plaintiffs and other bus drivers are therefore owed for about 14 hours of overtime during each two-week period in which they worked for the defendant.
