Two former employees of software companies Sage Group PLC, Sage Software, Inc., and Sage Payment Solutions, Inc. (which does business as Sage North America) have filed suit against the parties over claims that they failed to pay proper overtime wages. The plaintiffs were employed as inside sales representatives and, according to the suit, were “constantly pressured, intimidated and coerced” into working more than 40 hours per week in order to meet quotas and monthly goals. The complaint alleges that the defendants knew their employees were working before and after their scheduled shifts but refused to pay them overtime wages for hours worked beyond 40 each week.
Furthermore, the suit claims the defendants unlawfully failed to track employees’ true work hours and refused to provide them with accurate wage statements. From the complaint:
“IRONICALLY, the actual work hours of all the inside sales representatives were never recorded by the Defendants on a time tracing system or software, which the Defendant sells for this same purpose.”
