A lawsuit filed in Florida claims Restaurante & Tortilleria La Mexicana, Inc. and the company’s owner failed to pay a former employee proper wages.
During her tenure at the Orlando-based restaurant and minimarket, the plaintiff held the positions of cashier, store attendant and waitress, according to the complaint. The case alleges that while the woman worked as a waitress, she was not paid at least the full minimum wage for time spent performing non-tipped duties, such as cooking and cleaning.
Moreover, the plaintiff was deprived of time-and-a-half pay for 20 overtime hours per week throughout most of her employment, the suit claims.
