A wage and hour lawsuit filed against Securitas Security Services USA, Inc. in circuit court in February 2018 has landed in Florida federal court.
The plaintiff alleges he was subjected to racial discrimination when around December 2016, a manager for the defendants “stated she was going to fire black employees," before changing the man’s position and reducing his rate of pay. The plaintiff additionally alleges that throughout his employment, the same manager “terminated and/or constructively discharged other black employees” in favor of white workers. The man further claims his complaints to human resources went unaddressed.
The lawsuit notes the plaintiff was “fired and/or constructively discharged” in late-May 2017, allegedly in retaliation for his complaints about supposed racial discrimination.
Per the lawsuit’s Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) allegations, the plaintiff claims he was not paid proper time-and-a-half wages for roughly 15 overtime hours worked per week.
