Pardo’s Grill Café, Inc. (which does business as Ceviche 7 Mares Peruvian Food) and an individual owner are on the receiving end of a lawsuit that claims they violated several provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and Florida state law. The plaintiff in the suit alleges that she worked more than 40 hours per week for the defendants and was paid a fixed weekly salary regardless of how many hours she worked. She says she never received overtime wages and was paid less than the required minimum wage. According to the suit, the defendants failed to track employees’ hours and sometimes delayed payment of their wages by weeks or months.
The suit further claims that the defendants were sued in 2016 for alleged overtime wage violations, and that employees were forced to sign documents falsely stating that they had always been paid at least $5.00 per hour.
