Filed: December 6, 2017 ◆§ 0:17cv62389
A former food runner claims in a lawsuit he worked an average of 60 hours per week without being paid time-and-a-half overtime wages.
A proposed class action filed in Florida claims Broward County’s 1611 North Federal Corp., which runs Mario’s Catalina Restaurant, and the company’s owners failed to pay proper overtime wages. The plaintiff, a former food runner, alleges he worked an average of 60 hours per week for the defendants without being paid time-and-a-half hourly wages for each hour worked past 40. The lawsuit claims that the plaintiff worked roughly 155 weeks for the defendants—from December 2014 through November 2017—without Fair Labor Standards Act-mandated overtime pay.
The complaint estimates the plaintiff is owed more than $33,000 in damages from the defendants, an amount that includes attorneys’ costs.
