Two former employees of One Mile House have filed suit against the bar’s operating company and six individual owners claiming they weren’t paid proper wages. The plaintiffs – a dishwasher/porter and a cook – were allegedly required to work more than 40 hours per week without receiving time-and-a-half wages for the hours they worked above 40 or spread-of-hours wages for each shift that lasted longer than 10 hours.
In addition, the suit claims the defendants failed to provide employees with accurate wage statements and notices, noting that their paystubs consistently reflected only 40 hours of work when they typically worked more than 40 hours.
One of the plaintiffs also claims he was required to purchase shoes and shirts to wear at work – “tools of the trade” – without being reimbursed.
