New York
Canteen 82 Inc., Steam Noodle House, Inc., Steamer Dumpling House Inc., and three individuals with control of the businesses are facing a lawsuit filed by seven former employees who allege the defendants failed to comply with state and federal labor laws. The plaintiffs, who worked in various positions as chefs, cooks, and kitchen help at the defendants’ Chinese restaurants, claim their employers denied them proper overtime wages and spread-of-hours wages, though, according to the complaint, they regularly worked upwards of 70 hours per week with shifts lasting longer than 10 hours. The suit further alleges that the plaintiffs were not provided with proper wage notices and statements in their primary languages that detailed their hours and rates of pay.
