New York
A former employee of Bogopa Madison LLC (which does business as Fine Fare Supermarket) has filed suit against the company and two individual owners. He claims the defendants owe him unpaid overtime wages and violated several other provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and New York state law. The plaintiff allegedly worked as a stocker in the defendants’ grocery store and was paid a fixed weekly salary in cash. He says his employers neglected to record his hours prior to 2015 and never provided him with proper wage statements. The suit further claims that the plaintiff worked more than 40 hours per week without taking any breaks and was not paid time-and-a-half overtime wages when he worked more than 40 hours in the same week.
