Slaughter et al v. North Atlantic Security Company et al
Filed: December 19, 2017 ◆§ 1:17cv210
A lawsuit from 10 plaintiffs lays out claims North Atlantic Security Company stiffed security guards on rightful time-and-a-half overtime wages.
Ten plaintiffs are leading a proposed collective action in which they allege defendant North Atlantic Security Company failed to pay proper minimum and overtime wages pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The plaintiffs claim they regularly worked more than 40 hours per week without time-and-a-half overtime pay or, as a result, proper minimum hourly wages. The suit claims the defendant was aware its security guards worked overtime hours. When the plaintiffs inquired about why they were not paid overtime, the defendant reportedly explained the company “simply did not pay for such overtime” and threatened to terminate employees over any further complaints, the lawsuit reads.
