Pereira v. The Turkish Bath, Inc. et al
Filed: August 1, 2017 ◆§ 1:17-cv-22897-CMA
Miami Beach luxury spa The Turkish Bath is on the receiving end of a former maintenance worker's proposed class action lawsuit.
A man who was employed as a maintenance worker by The Turkish Bath, Inc., a Miami Beach luxury spa, for 45 weeks across 2016 and 2017 has sued the company and its owner to recover allegedly unpaid overtime wages. The plaintiff claims he worked 72 hours each week without bona fide lunch breaks yet was never paid time-and-a-half wages for any hours worked over 40 throughout his employment. The defendant did not utilize any time keeping method, the plaintiff continues, and never issued paystubs that accurately reflected the number of hours he worked per week.
