Massaro Electric Corp. Facing Wage and Hour Complaint Over ‘Shop Time, ‘Travel Time’ Pay
Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Castillo v. Massaro Electric Corp. et al
Filed: February 13, 2018 ◆§ 2:18cv936
According to a lawsuit, Massaro Electric Corp. failed to pay workers for 'shop time' spent at the company's headquarters each morning, nor for travel time.
An individual employed by Massaro Electric Corp. from March 2015 through February 2018 has filed a proposed collective and class action against the company and its owner to recover allegedly unpaid overtime wages. The plaintiff claims his workdays began at the company’s headquarters. The defendants allegedly did not pay the plaintiff for this time – which the defendant referred to as “shop time” – even though the plaintiff “would have to start his work day at the company’s central location in order to perform his assigned duties,” according to the complaint. Further, the plaintiff asserts he was also not paid for time spent traveling from one job site to another. In fact, the case alleges the defendants would alter the plaintiff’s timesheet to show that he worked fewer hours.
