Marriot International, Others Facing Suit Over Overtime Calculations

Marriot International, Inc., Renaissance Hotel MGMT Co. LLC, and Ritz Carlton Hotel Co, LLC are among the 11 defendants named in a proposed collective action filed on behalf of current and former front desk agents and front desk agent supervisors. According to the complaint, the defendant’s front desk agents and supervisors are paid an hourly wage, in addition to commissions and bonuses, and routinely work more than 40 hours a week. The suit claims that although the workers were paid some overtime pay, the defendants “carelessly, recklessly and willfully miscalculated the full amount of overtime compensation due as required by law.” For instance, the suit alleges the companies failed to include commissions and bonuses when determining these employees’ regular rates of pay for the purposes of calculating overtime.
