Arkansas
Arkansas’ Pulaski County Special School District is facing a proposed collective action filed on behalf of the county’s bus drivers over the defendant’s alleged failure to pay proper wages. The plaintiff in the case, who was purportedly paid an hourly rate of $21.60, says he and other drivers regularly worked more than 40 hours per week without receiving premium time-and-a-half wages for hours worked in excess of 40. Further, the suit claims bus drivers weren’t provided with “contract wages” when they worked more than six hours in a day. According to the complaint, the defendant controlled the workers’ schedules, responsibilities, assignments, and employment conditions, and was obligated to pay them in accordance with state and federal law.
