Plastipak Packaging, Inc. is facing a proposed class action lawsuit that claims it failed to properly calculate employees’ overtime rates. The plaintiff in the case says he was employed as a maintenance mechanic for the packaging company between March 2011 and May 2016, and routinely worked more than 40 hours per week. According to the complaint, the defendant failed to include his “shift differential” pay – additional wages earned for working “less desirable” shifts – when determining his regular rate for overtime calculations.
