Goodwin v. Huhtamaki, Inc.
Filed: January 22, 2018 ◆§ 5:18cv16
A proposed class and collective action has been filed against Huhtamaki, Inc. claiming the packaging company failed to pay its employees proper overtime wages.
A proposed class and collective action has been filed against Huhtamaki, Inc. claiming the packaging company failed to pay its employees proper overtime wages. From the complaint:
“Huhtamaki violated (and continues to violate) the [Fair Labor Standards Act] by automatically deducting 30-minute meal periods from [the plaintiff’s and proposed class members’] daily hours worked, despite knowing that [they] routinely worked (and continue to work) throughout their designated 30-minute meal periods each day.”
The plaintiff argues that the missed breaks have caused her to work more than 40 hours per week without being paid time-and-a-half wages. As a result, the suit alleges, the plaintiff and proposed class members have been deprived of their rightful wages under federal law.
