Lawsuit: Hartford Fire Insurance Co. Owes Unpaid Wages After Misclassifying Claims Analysts
Last Updated on May 8, 2018
Andreas-Moses et al. v. Hartford Fire Insurance Company
Filed: November 18, 2017 ◆§ 6:17-cv-02019-RBD-KRS
Three plaintiffs claim Hartford Fire Insurance Company misclassified at least 100 employees as exempt from overtime, and thus owes unpaid wages.
Three plaintiffs are behind a proposed class action in which they allege Hartford Fire Insurance Company failed to pay proper wages to current and former claims analysts at the company’s Onondaga County, New York location. The plaintiffs, who the case says processed long- and short-term disability claims for the defendant’s clients until December 2013, allege they and at least 100 other workers were misclassified as exempt from overtime pay under New York Labor Law. Consequently, proposed class members regularly worked more than 40 hours each week without time-and-a-half hourly pay, instead being compensated at only their salaried straight-time rate.
