Bruce v. Waste Industries, Llc
Filed: July 25, 2018 ◆§ 3:18cv688
A proposed collective action has been filed against Waste Industries, LLC over allegations that the company has failed to pay waste disposal drivers proper wages.
A proposed collective action has been filed against Waste Industries, LLC over allegations that the company has failed to pay waste disposal drivers proper wages.
The case takes issue with the company’s alleged practices of:
- Automatically deducting 30-minute meal periods from workers’ hours regardless of whether they are able to take a break;
- Clocking out employees while they are still working in order to avoid paying them overtime;
- Requiring employees to perform pre-shift and post-shift “off the clock work” without pay;
- Failing to pay workers time-and-a-half overtime wages.
As a result of these allegedly unlawful practices, employees weren’t properly paid for all their hours worked, the case argues.
