A proposed collective action has been filed against Guest Services, Inc., Guest Services Company of Virginia, LLC and Guest Services Management, LLC by four plaintiffs who claim they’re owed unpaid wages.
Filed in federal court, the lawsuit says the plaintiffs were hired between April and October 2017 to work in the housekeeping department at the defendants’ Ashland Fairfield Inn & Suites. Around October, the case says, the plaintiffs began noticing time was being deducted from their timesheets. The individuals allege “someone from management or payroll” was editing their timesheet entries, subtracting time for meal breaks without regard to whether the workers actually had time to take an uninterrupted meal period.
“[The plaintiffs] frequently, if not always, worked their entire shift without taking a meal break,” the suit states.
The lawsuit alleges the defendants’ supposed conduct has deprived the plaintiffs of rightful time-and-a-half overtime wages for hours worked in excess of 40 each week.
