New York
A New York woman has filed suit against Karp Scarsdale, LLC and The Ambassador of Scarsdale Management claiming the two entities, as joint employers, failed to pay her proper overtime wages. The plaintiff says she was responsible for preparing and handling food at the defendants’ luxury residential housing facility in White Plains, New York between June 2015 and December 2017. She claims the defendants automatically deducted 30 minutes from her hours each day for a lunch break she was rarely able to take. As a result, the suit argues, the plaintiff worked more than 40 hours per week without being paid time-and-a-half wages for the hours above 40.
Furthermore, the complaint alleges the defendants failed to provide their employees with accurate wage statements and required notices that detailed their rights under state and federal labor laws.
