Kane’s Furniture Corporation is facing a lawsuit filed in August by a former employee who alleges he was not paid proper overtime wages. According to the suit, the defendant automatically deducted time for lunch breaks from employees’ pay regardless of whether they actually took their breaks or were forced to work through them. The plaintiff claims this uncompensated time caused his weekly hours to exceed 40, arguing that as a result, he is owed time-and-a-half overtime wages.
