The operating company of Miami’s Jungle Juice Café and three individual owners are facing a former employee’s claims that they failed to pay her any wages at all for her eight weeks of employment. The plaintiff says she worked between 108 and 121 hours per week for the defendants and spent $2,400 of her own money on supplies for the restaurant. According to the suit, the defendants failed to pay for her straight-time and overtime hours and failed to reimburse her for the supplies. She claims she was given two checks near the end of her employment, but that the checks bounced when she attempted to deposit them. The complaint estimates that the plaintiff is owed $13,117.50 in overtime wages and $2,592.00 of unpaid minimum wages.
