The company that operates as John’s Pizzeria of Bleecker Street is among the defendants in a proposed collective action in which the plaintiff seeks to recover allegedly unpaid wages. The case says the plaintiff worked as a cook for defendant 276-8 Pizza Corp. and its owner from 1993 until November 2017. The man supposedly put in 45 or more hours of work per week from 2012 through the end of his employment without being paid time-and-a-half overtime for every hour worked past 40. Further, the plaintiff says the defendants also failed to keep accurate payroll records and didn't post mandatory notices detailing state and federal minimum and overtime wage requirements in a conspicuous location in the pizzeria.
